Joy Tuttle
Licensed Auctioneer
Certified Appraiser
I, Joy Tuttle, am a Licensed Auctioneer (NCAL#6503) in the State of North Carolina, specializing in antique and estate auctions, and conducting numerous auctions each year. I am a member in good standing with the Auctioneers Association of North Carolina, and was awarded AANC Womens Division, Reserve Champion (2002).
I am a member of the Certified Appraisers Guild. The Certified Appraisers Guild of America confers the professional membership designation CAGA to recognize the completion of the appraisers certification education. Members are professionals who have completed the certification process. In addition, the members have made a commitment to the Certified Appraisers Guilds Code of Professional Ethics and to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Each member is required to attend professional training and pass a comprehensive exam before becoming certified. The training each member is required to complete includes the uniform standards of personal property appraisal practice and appraisal report writing. Special areas of emphasis in the training include Internal Revenue Service appraisal requirements, estate and gift appraisals, charitable donation appraisals, bankruptcy appraisals, insurance appraisals, appraisals for divorce, and casualty loss appraisals. In addition, each member is required to attend our courtroom expert witness seminar with special emphasis on appraisals for courts and testifying in court.
I have been involved in the antique business for more than 25 years and am well
educated and knowledgeable in this field. Being a member of MESDA (Museum of Early
Southern Decorative Arts) is extremely helpful with access to MESDAs research
facility. Other privileges include educational classes, programs, and lectures on
decorative arts research.
MESDA represents the most complete assemblage of information on southern decorative
arts in existence.
Auctioneering and Appraising are both challenging professions. However, I am confident about my work and believe that I have built a respectable reputation for my business.
